About Us

We are a small family owned business who have been supplying firstly the Tasmanian and then Australian window furnishing industry with quality custom made curtains and blinds since 1984.

Our first store from 1984-1993 was a country general store Strides Department Store in Huonville in the Huon Valley (apple country) selling many products including curtains and blinds.

I was smitten and in 1989 we expanded and moved into Kingston just south of Hobart, albeit a much larger town than Huonville, and opened Home Finishing Touches, a specialist window furnishing and decorator store. Here I could let my artistic talent loose and over the next 10 years took Home Finishing Touches to another level of decorating excellence in Tasmania. A highlight was being a finalist in the Telstra Small Business Awards in 1990.

In 1993 Tony and I sold Strides to concentrate on Home Finishing Touches and then in December 2000  after an extremely busy  11 years reluctantly we sold Home Finishing Touches to take a well earned break overseas.

In December 2003 we went back to what we knew best and purchased what was known at that time as Curtainworld Kingston, changed the name to MAB Interiors, brought the business into the 21st century, and made it one of the most respected by peers, businesses  in Southern Tasmania. Our reputation for quality workmanship, quality of custom made product, and in depth product knowledge made us leaders in our field and the envy of our competitors.

In 2006 we decided to go a step further and our online business Beautiful Blinds was born, and so began the learning curve of online retailing. This was an exciting time as we ventured into a world of constant change. Building a new national business has been an exciting challenge and we now have a great network of clients all over Australia and the islands.

In August  2013 we sold MAB Interiors after an incredibly busy 10 years, and moved from one island to another and relocated our Beautiful Blinds business to beautiful Bribie Island in Queensland.
2014 - 15 has seen us working on both improving our product range and website in general for Beautiful Blinds and also bringing online our new and exciting Honeycombblinds.com.au website.

Honeycomb blinds or cellular shades as they are also known, are a product that we are very passionate about, having done years of research and testing on various ranges both locally and internationally produced.
